Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium is an independent non-profit research organization dedicated to the advancement of marine and environmental sciences through scientific research, education and public outreach. Seamlessly integrating these three areas have led to new discoveries, revitalization and sustainability of our oceans and greater understanding of our marine resources.

• Mote administers more than 130 funded research projects
• Mote enjoys the crucial support of more than 10,200 individual members and 130 corporate members
• Mote has a staff of 177, plus 150 college student interns annually and 1,500 dedicated volunteers
• Mote campus and field stations include 31 buildings on 211 acres at five locations
• Mote has 1.8 million gallons of seawater systems
• Mote owns and operates a 55-foot research vessel, 33 small boats and 18 vehicles
• Many of today’s leading marine scientists, oceanographers and ecologists received their scientific spark at the marine laboratory.
